High indoor humidity forces your refrigerator’s automatic defrost cycle to go into overdrive. Every time you open the freezer door, heavy moisture rushes in, instantly freezing onto the interior walls and the ice maker mechanisms. The appliance then has to burn massive amounts of energy to run internal heaters and melt that ice.

Furthermore, excess humidity is terrible for dishwashers and ovens. These machines rely on delicate electronic control boards housed just behind the front panels. When the kitchen air is saturated with moisture, condensation slowly builds up on these sensitive logic boards, leading to corrosion, electrical shorts, and sudden failures. Eventually, all of those airborne particles settle directly onto the condenser coils located on the back or bottom of your refrigerator. These coils need to be completely clean to dissipate heat. When they are choked by a thick blanket of household dust and greasy lint, the heat becomes trapped. The compressor overheats, the cooling efficiency plummets, and the machine eventually shuts down completely to prevent a fire. By having a technician routinely clean your ductwork, change your heavy-duty filters, and service the air handler, you drastically reduce the amount of debris floating through your kitchen, keeping your appliance coils breathing easily.

Managing Intense Heat Zones
